Processing of Sulfide Copper Ores With Copper and Silver Recovery

The processing of sulfide copper ores presents significant challenges due to the complex mineralogical composition
and the need for efficient extraction of both copper and silver. This research analyzes existing methodologies
for processing sulfide copper ores, focusing on flotation, pyrometallurgical, and hydrometallurgical approaches. Through
comprehensive literature analysis, this study examines the effectiveness of various processing techniques and their
applicability to different ore types. The research identifies that combination processing methods, particularly flotation followed
by pyrometallurgical treatment, demonstrate the highest recovery rates for both copper and silver. Environmental
considerations and economic factors significantly influence the selection of processing methods. The findings indicate
that modern integrated approaches can achieve copper recovery rates of 85-95% and silver recovery rates of 70-85%,
depending on ore characteristics and processing parameters.
