Abstract

The aim of the study is to develop an interpretable method for parametric 3D garment modeling that
ensures the consistent transformation of anthropometric measurements of the human body into the parameters of a digital
mannequin, a two-dimensional garment pattern, and the three-dimensional shape of the garment. A multilevel model is
proposed that includes measurement normalization, anthropometric avatar morphing, calculation of control parameters for
pattern pieces, projection of technological constraints on corresponding edges, and subsequent physically based draping.
For preliminary validation, a synthetic sample of 120 anthropometric profiles containing ten principal body measurements
was generated. Proportional scaling, multivariate linear parameterization, and the proposed quadratic parametric algorithm
with strict seam constraints were compared using five-fold cross-validation. The mean absolute errors for 24 geometric
parameters were 3.65, 1.37, and 0.97 mm, respectively, while the coefficient of determination of the proposed model
reached 0.995. Constraint projection eliminated mismatches between corresponding pattern edges without additional
manual editing. The scientific novelty of the study lies in integrating anthropometric mapping, procedural pattern generation,
and explicit control of technological compatibility within a unified algorithm. The results can be applied to the development
of CAD modules for customized garment design, digital twins of garments, and virtual fitting systems.
