Аннотация

The higher education of Uzbekistan is undergoing a transformative phase grounded in strategic reforms
towards enhancing international recognition, quality of studies, and institutional autonomy. The country’s initiatives
towards positioning its universities based on global best practices have resulted in increased foreign student admissions,
expansion of universities, and participation in worldwide rankings such as QS and THE. One of the key factors of this
development is the decentralization of higher education governance, which has granted universities increased academic
and financial independence, enabling them to form closer international linkages, access foreign capital, and improve the
quality of education.
Besides, Uzbekistan is carrying out the merger of universities to make the most of resources, consolidate research
potential, and ensure international competitiveness, building its methods on successful experience in France and South
Korea. Furthermore, the nation is emerging as a centre of higher education in Central Asia by actively engaging in
international scientific forums, summits, and educational exhibitions. These efforts not only strengthen Uzbekistan’s
brand of education but also help foster academic diplomacy and international knowledge exchange.
While Uzbekistan has made great strides, in order to maintain this momentum, the policy further needs to be refined, more
investment in research and innovation needs to be made, and institutional independence enhanced. With challenges
being resolved and opportunities emerging on the horizon, Uzbekistan will be a highly regarded regional and international
leader in higher education
