Abstract

This paper examines strategic approaches to enhance competitiveness in Uzbekistan's oil
and gas sector through technological innovation, regulatory reforms, and market dynamics optimization.
Uzbekistan faces critical challenges including declining production from mature fields, aging infrastructure,
and increasing domestic demand amid global energy transition pressures. The research analyzes how
technological innovations in exploration and production techniques, progressive regulatory frameworks,
and adaptive market strategies can transform these challenges into opportunities. The study reveals
that targeted investments in advanced extraction technologies, digitalization, and sustainable practices,
coupled with transparent regulatory reforms and strategic international partnerships, can significantly
boost the sector's productivity and global competitiveness. These findings contribute to the development
of a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable growth in Uzbekistan’s hydrocarbon industry, with
implications for other resource-rich transitioning economies.
